Family Atlas

A reader of this blog pointed me to an article about the many different ways to visualize a family tree. I wanted to play with those ideas on my own tree, and then I thought: why not build a small service where anyone can do the same with theirs?

That’s how Family Atlas came about.

Family Atlas cover: a friendly robot next to a laptop showing a family tree, with fan and circular ancestor charts floating above it

It’s still a very early prototype, but you can already use it :)

What it can do:

  1. Open a GEDCOM file, the standard export format of almost every genealogy program
  2. Draw your tree in several different ways and let you customize the charts a bit
  3. Save them to your computer, so you can print them or use them however you like
  4. Analyze your tree. I shared this analysis earlier as a separate skill for AI agents
  5. Dig out interesting facts from your tree and turn them into stories for social media that you can share :)

One important thing: the service doesn’t store your files anywhere. Everything happens locally, right on your computer or phone. That also means it may lag a little on an older phone or computer :)

Try it on your own tree and drop me a line at hello@vibe-genealogy.com. Do you like it? What should I improve or add? If it turns out to be useful, I’ll keep polishing it!
